Daniel Jennings
Project Lead, Make It There
Hi, I’m Daniel Jennings, Business Student at Spartanburg Methodist College and Project Lead of MAKE IT THERE.
By age 2 ½, I was already on my second speech evaluation, was being taught sign language by my parents, and was enrolled in BabyNet, a statewide program for children with developmental delays or disabilities. Some at that time might have labled me as non-verbal. Those were really tough years. Now, after literally years of speech therapy, resource classes, coaching from family and friends, and sheer determination inspired by my faith-- here I am--a full-time employee working my way thru college.
Employment statistics for individuals with disabilities show that over 75% of people with disabilities never make it into the workforce. But together we can change this.
That’s why I’ve launched MAKE IT THERE, a social media project designed to help empower members of our community to overcome the barriers that may be keeping them out of the workforce. I believe we can successfully take on these challenges with the help of a supportive community of peers and informed stakeholders.
